How To Know If A Bible Doctrine Is True

How To Find Truth In The Midst of Contentions?

How To Clear Biblical Teachings The Biblical Way?

What does the Bible say about clearing confusions?

Truth is also everywhere untruth is.

As a seeker of truth, how should you go about finding which is the truth? If you have found yourself reading this piece, the Ruach YHWH has brought you here.

Do your utmost to present yourself approved to Elohim, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly handling the Word of Truth.
(2Ti 2:15 The Scriptures 1998+)

prove them all. Hold fast what is good.
(1Th 5:21 The Scriptures 1998+)

First, divide the word properly - 2 Ti 2:15 - "divide" means dissect, expound correctly, examine, investigate, prove, test, check, verify, clear -- clear the confusion. I prefer to use the word "clear". And "word" here can mean the "Bible", the "Scripture", the "Torah", the teachings, and literally "word" and all of these. For our purpose of finding the truth, we take the "all-of-these" stance depending on the context.

Fortunately, The Bible has given us an example of how we should go about this. Like The Berean's in Acts 17:10,11 ~

And the brothers immediately sent Sha’ul and Sila away by night to Beroia, who, having come, went into the congregation of the Yehuḏim.
(Act 17:10 The Scriptures 1998+)

Now these were more noble than those in Thessalonike, who received the word with great eagerness, and searched the Scriptures daily, if these words were so.
(Act 17:11 The Scriptures 1998+)

Please note, "the Scriptures" spoken of here that they use at the time is the Tanakh -- Torah, Writings and the Prophets. In the Christian Bible this is called the Old Testament. The New Testament do not yet exist at this time.

The Father also has an instruction for us, that we "ask for the old paths, where the good way is". Meaning, if we are presented with many, many things, we must go back to what was instructed to our fore-fathers -- Adam, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob/Israel, The Hebrews, The Jews, Judaism. We must refer back to the Torah, the five books of Moses, which contains the instructions of YHWH. ~

Thus said יהוה, “Stand in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths, where the good way is, and walk in it; and find rest for yourselves. ...
(Jer 6:16 The Scriptures 1998+)

Example: If we are presented with Christian data and Judaic data, it should be clear that Judaism is the old path. If however, contention is still up, then we can break it down further between Judaism and Hebrews and Israel, and Israel is clearly the old paths and so on. Then move on.

And Yahushua have echoed it in Matthew 11:29

Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am meek and humble in heart, and you shall find rest for your beings.1
Footnote: 1Jer. 6:16.
(Mat 11:29 The Scriptures 1998+)

What was the yoke of Yahushua? We find it in Matthew 23:1-3 -- the seat of Moses -- is the authority to teach and to judge through the Law of Moses, or the Torah, the instructions of YHWH that are found in the Torah -- the first five books of Moses.

Then יהושע spoke to the crowds and to His taught ones,
(Mat 23:1 The Scriptures 1998+)

saying, “The scribes and the Pharisees sit on the seat of Mosheh.
(Mat 23:2 The Scriptures 1998+)

Therefore, whatever they say to you to guard, guard and do. But do not do according to their works, for they say, and do not do.
(Mat 23:3 The Scriptures 1998+)

Please note what Yahushua said to "DO NOT DO according to their works, for they say, and do not do". Meaning they teach the Torah, and even added to the Torah "the works or works of Torah/Law" but they themselves do not do them. They just want to be seen as if they are doing them, but they are really not. So the yoke of Yahushua is the instructions of YHWH (the Torah) without the added "works" that these men have put around the Torah.

And he also repeated it in Matthew 5:17-19 ~

Do not think that I came to destroy the Torah or the Prophets.1 I did not come to destroy but to complete. Footnote: 1The Law and the Prophets is a term used for the pre-Messianic Scriptures.
(Mat 5:17 The Scriptures 1998+)

For truly, I say to you, till the heaven and the earth pass away, one jot or one tittle shall by no means pass from the Torah till all be done.1
Footnote: 1 Lk. 16:17.
(Mat 5:18 The Scriptures 1998+)

And a warning here:

Whoever, then, breaks one of the least of these commands, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the reign of the heavens; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the reign of the heavens.
(Mat 5:19 The Scriptures 1998+)

So, how do we know which is which?

To the Torah and to the Testimony! If they do not speak according to this Word, it is because there is no light to them!
(Isa 8:20 HRB)

For it is: command upon command, command upon command, line upon line, line upon line, here a little, there a little.
(Isa 28:10 The Scriptures 1998+)

But the Word of יהוה was to them, “Command upon command, command upon command, line upon line, line upon line, here a little, there a little,” so that they go and shall stumble backward, and be broken and snared and taken captive.
(Isa 28:13 The Scriptures 1998+)

Therefore, the Torah, which is also known as "Moses' Seat", and the Testimony, which is the Writings and the Prophets, including the Testimony of Yahushua, is the Standard by which all teachings must be tested with.

And by at the least two witnesses from the Torah and the Testimony with which we test the teachings shall it be established as truth. Otherwise it is false and this is because whoever teaches them, they have no more light to them.

At the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses a thing shall be established.
(Deut 19:15b HRB)

And finally we must also consider and know the times, meaning, the current events, the laws of nature, physics, mathematics, and the sciences, like the men of Issachar and a king's wise men, to get a handle of different worldviews and viewpoints in relation to the subject and the Torah:

And of the sons of Issachar, having understanding of the times, to know what Israel should do. ...
(1Ch 12:32a HRB)

And the king said to the wise men who knew the times (for so was the king's manner toward all who knew law and judgment;
(Ester 1:13 HRB)

Many truths have been buried cleverly in time and laws. And history is normally used to contend with the truth of the Bible. So understanding times, events in history, and current events and data that can be established with the Torah and in relation to our day is also crucial.

But remember, one must be able to clear the data personally, firsthand. This is a fast rule in establishing Stable Data. A data that cannot be cleared personally is a suspect. It is likely untruthful. And for this reason many who scheme deceit love to use historical data, statistics, theories, and the like. Because these are not easy to clear. And these sounds authentic or authoritative even if they were not.

However, this is not to say we cannot use these data. We must also be able to use these data like the men of Issachar. And these data can only shed light when it agrees with the Torah and the Testimony. Only then should these be considered the 5th or 6th or so witnesses or testimonies.

If a teaching presents these data as the 1st or 2nd witness or testimony, one must be ready to dismiss and discard it already, for it is likely untruthful. If a contention refutes another teaching and using these data as such, it is also likely untruthful.

However, for the sake of clearing, if opportunity presents, then one must not pass up the chance.

And WHEN Applicable, be watchful of the unfolding events of prophecies. And be watchful for teachings that come your way. Either from the World, the Sciences or from the Scriptures. Because the Ruach YHWH may be leading you to the truth. And you might accidentally discard it.

Understanding and using what have been discussed so far, one is already armed with how to know what data to discard and what data to hold on to, and to clear it personally, firsthand. Because truth is like a precious jewel.

And יהושע answering, said to them, “Take heed that no one leads you astray.
(Mat 24:4 The Scriptures 1998+)

Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Master is coming.
(Mat 24:42 The Scriptures 1998+)

“And know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into.
(Mat 24:43 The Scriptures 1998+)

“Because of this, be ready too, for the Son of Aḏam is coming at an hour when you do not expect Him.
(Mat 24:44 The Scriptures 1998+)

But you, brothers, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief.
(1Th 5:4 The Scriptures 1998+)

For you are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness.
(1Th 5:5 The Scriptures 1998+)

So, then, we should not sleep, as others do, but we should watch and be sober.
(1Th 5:6 The Scriptures 1998+)

Now, how can one be watchful when one does not know what to watch for?

Therefore, prove all things and hold on to which is good (1 Th 5:21). When you have proven some things, you will have some things to be watchful for. And do your utmost best to be approved of Elohim by clearing the Word of confusion and find the Truth (2Ti 2:15), crystal clear.

YHWH Bless you
