The Four Winds Of Revelation

And after this I saw four messengers standing at the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree.
(Rev 7:1 The Scriptures 1998+)

And I saw another messenger coming up from the rising of the sun, holding the seal of the living Elohim. And he cried with a loud voice to the four messengers to whom it was given to harm the earth and the sea,
(Rev 7:2 The Scriptures 1998+)

saying, “Do not harm the earth, nor the sea, nor the trees until we have sealed the servants of our Elohim upon their foreheads.”1
Footnote: 1See Rev 9:4, 14:1, 22:4.
(Rev 7:3 The Scriptures 1998+)

The "four winds" in the following passages are associated with scattering people toward all those winds.

‘And I shall bring upon Ěylam the four winds from the four quarters of the heavens, and scatter them toward all those winds. And there shall be no nation where the outcasts of Ěylam do not go.
 (Jer 49:36 The Scriptures 1998+)

“Oh, Oh! And flee from the land of the north,” declares יהוה, “for I have scattered you like the four winds of the heavens,” declares יהוה.
(Zec 2:6 The Scriptures 1998+)

And the male goat became very great. But when he was strong, the large horn was broken, and in place of it four conspicuous ones came up toward the four winds of the heavens.
 (Dan 8:8 The Scriptures 1998+)

Dani’ĕl spoke and said, “I was looking in my vision by night and saw the four winds of the heavens stirring up the Great Sea.
(Dan 7:2 The Scriptures 1998+)

“But when he has arisen, his rule shall be broken up and divided toward the four winds of the heavens, but not among his descendants nor according to his authority with which he ruled, because his rule shall be uprooted, even for others besides these.
(Dan 11:4 The Scriptures 1998+)

And in the following passages the "four winds" are associated with gathering the "chosen" people.

He then said to me, “Prophesy to the spirit, prophesy, son of man, and you shall say to the spirit, ‘Thus said the Master יהוה, “Come from the four winds, O spirit, and breathe on these slain, so that they live.” ’ ”
 (Eze 37:9 The Scriptures 1998+)

“And He shall send His messengers with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together His chosen ones from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.
 (Mat 24:31 The Scriptures 1998+)

“And then He shall send His messengers, and assemble His chosen ones from the four winds, from the farthest part of earth to the farthest part of heaven.
 (Mar 13:27 The Scriptures 1998+)

Can we deduce that these "four winds" in Revelation 7:1-3 when released will scatter the people and will also gather the chosen ones together? (Not on the second coming yet.) But when these winds are released we shall be gathered together in clusters in different places around the globe.

Then, I believe, at the culmination of these winds All the people of Elohim will be gathered together, raptured on the second coming of Yahushua, before the seventh plague is poured out on the earth (Rev 16:15). Just before the battle of "Armageddon" (Rev 16:16).

“See, I am coming as a thief. Blessed is he who is staying awake and guarding his garments, lest he walk naked and they see his shame.”
(Rev 16:15 The Scriptures 1998+)

And they gathered them together to the place called in Heḇrew, Har Meḡiddo.
(Rev 16:16 The Scriptures 1998+)

There will be four major groups of people, three are major groups of believers (chosen ones), the first one is the small number of chosen ones who will be sealed (Rev 7:4) -- secured and protected from the "four winds".

The second group is a crowd of people (chosen ones) that cannot be numbered who came after the "four winds" and washed their robes and became white and were purified. (Rev 7:14)

The third group of believers (chosen ones) are those that did not make it through the "four winds". They have fallen, they gave up when their faith was put to the test. (Mat 7:27, Luke 12:46)

The fourth group of people are those unbelievers. (Luke 12:46)

The four messengers who were given power to harm the earth (the believers), the sea (the unbelievers), and the trees (the leaders of both sides), are Still holding the four winds (the great tribulation).

Because the messenger on verse 2 said so until all the people of Elohim are sealed -- "secured to be protected" not raptured yet, while the rest will be tried and tested and be purified.

Protected from what?

The Winds

Protected from the winds?

The "winds" in the Bible are associated with calamity, judgments, diseases (pestilence), scarcity of food, fall by the sword, and scattered.

Also "winds" should tell us that YHWH have spoken. (Eze 17:21)

“And their camels shall become plunder, and their large herds booty. And I shall scatter them to all winds, those who cut off the corner, and bring their calamity from all its sides,” declares יהוה.
 (Jer 49:32 The Scriptures 1998+)

‘Therefore fathers are going to eat their sons in your midst, and sons eat their fathers. And I shall execute judgments among you and scatter all your remnant to all the winds.
 (Eze 5:10 The Scriptures 1998+)

‘One-third of you shall die of pestilence, and be consumed with scarcity of food in your midst. And one-third shall fall by the sword all around you. And I shall scatter another third to all the winds, and draw out a sword after them.
 (Eze 5:12 The Scriptures 1998+)

and all his fugitives with all his bands fall by the sword, and those who are left be scattered to every wind. And you shall know that I, יהוה, have spoken.”
 (Eze 17:21 The Scriptures 1998+)

Winds also, at times, comes with rain and floods.

and the rain came down, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.
 (Mat 7:25 The Scriptures 1998+)

and the rain came down, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and they beat on that house, and it fell, and great was its fall.”
 (Mat 7:27 The Scriptures 1998+)

Winds: A Test Of Faith.

And He said to them, “Why are you afraid, O you of little belief?” Then, having risen, He rebuked the winds and the sea. And there was a great calm.
 (Mat 8:26 The Scriptures 1998+)

And the men marvelled, saying, “What is this, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?”
 (Mat 8:27 The Scriptures 1998+)

And He said to them, “Where is your belief?” And they were afraid, and marvelled, saying to one another, “Who then is this, that He even commands the winds and water, and they obey Him?”
 (Luk 8:25 The Scriptures 1998+)

Winds can also forced us to change or shall we say correct our course.

And from there we put out to sea and sailed close to Cyprus, because the winds were against us.
 (Act 27:4 The Scriptures 1998+)

Winds also is a driving force.

Look at the ships too: although they are so big and are driven by strong winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot intends.
 (Jas 3:4 The Scriptures 1998+)

And winds can also be a carrier.

These are rocky reefs in your love feasts, feasting with you, feeding themselves without fear, waterless clouds borne about by the winds, late autumn trees without fruit, twice dead, pulled up by the roots,
 (Jud 1:12 The Scriptures 1998+)

Can we deduce that the four winds of Revelation 7:1-3 represents the great tribulation?

Compare with what Yahushua had spoken in Mat 24:3-25: These are the tribulation we are in right now and culminates to the great tribulation:

And as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the taught ones came to Him separately, saying, “Say to us, when shall this be, and what is the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”
(Mat 24:3 The Scriptures 1998+)

And יהושע answering, said to them, “Take heed that no one leads you astray.
(Mat 24:4 The Scriptures 1998+)

“For many shall come in My Name, saying, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and they shall lead many astray.
(Mat 24:5 The Scriptures 1998+)

“And you shall begin to hear of fightings and reports of fightings. See that you are not troubled, for these have to take place, but the end is not yet.
(Mat 24:6 The Scriptures 1998+)

“For nation shall rise against nation, and reign against reign. And there shall be scarcities of food, and deadly diseases, and earthquakes in places.
(Mat 24:7 The Scriptures 1998+)

“And all these are the beginning of birth pains.
(Mat 24:8 The Scriptures 1998+)

“Then they shall deliver you up to affliction and kill you, and you shall be hated by all nations for My Name’s sake.
(Mat 24:9 The Scriptures 1998+)

“And then many shall stumble, and they shall deliver up one another, and shall hate one another.
(Mat 24:10 The Scriptures 1998+)

“And many false prophets shall rise up and lead many astray.
(Mat 24:11 The Scriptures 1998+)

“And because of the increase in lawlessness, the love of many shall become cold.
(Mat 24:12 The Scriptures 1998+)

“But he who shall have endured to the end shall be saved.1
Footnote:1See Mat 10:22.
(Mat 24:13 The Scriptures 1998+)

“And this Good News of the reign shall be proclaimed in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end shall come.
(Mat 24:14 The Scriptures 1998+)

“So when you see the ‘abomination that lays waste,’1 spoken of by Dani’ĕl the prophet, set up in the set-apart place” – he who reads, let him understand –
(Mat 24:15 The Scriptures 1998+)

“then let those who are in Yehuḏah flee to the mountains.
(Mat 24:16 The Scriptures 1998+)

“Let him who is on the house-top not come down to take whatever out of his house.
(Mat 24:17 The Scriptures 1998+)

“And let him who is in the field not turn back to get his garments.
(Mat 24:18 The Scriptures 1998+)

“And woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing children in those days!
(Mat 24:19 The Scriptures 1998+)

“And pray that your flight does not take place in winter or on the Sabbath.
(Mat 24:20 The Scriptures 1998+)

“For then there shall be great distress,1 such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be.
Footnote:1Or great pressure, or great affliction.
(Mat 24:21 The Scriptures 1998+)

“And if those days were not shortened, no flesh would be saved, but for the sake of the chosen ones those days shall be shortened.
(Mat 24:22 The Scriptures 1998+)

“If anyone then says to you, ‘Look, here is the Messiah!’ or ‘There!’ do not believe.
(Mat 24:23 The Scriptures 1998+)

“For false messiahs and false prophets shall arise, and they shall show great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the chosen ones.
(Mat 24:24 The Scriptures 1998+)

“See, I have forewarned you.
(Mat 24:25 The Scriptures 1998+)

The "four winds" of Revelation 7:1-3 is "the great tribulation".

Shalom! Shalom!
