"The End" is not just one day, nor it is just a day, or the day for mankind. For a day of Elohim is a thousand years for us.(Ps 90:4, 2 Pe 3:8)
This is an idiomatic expression based on the story in the book of Daniel. It means "there is an immenent doom" that is about to happen.
